The Tale of a Zebra (EDS) and POTS

My 1st Podcast

The woman I was dating is a life coach and also has her own podcast called Heart Empowered Women Radio . She’s interviewed some really amazing people and had been urging me to be a guest. She vaguely kept saying that she wanted me to share my story of empowering others through my own health struggles.

This blog has been my space to share my experiences and to try and create resources for other patients. I was at a super low point when I created it. I knew how frustrating it was for me to go from being in the best physical shape of my life, to being bedridden with mouthwatering nausea for over 3 months before I could even see a doctor. Sharing my story through my writing is something I’ve done for a long time (journaling since childhood, blogging, writing papers, etc.) but to take it a step further and go on a podcast? That’s a big leap.

After many talks with her and her hinting at being on the show… one morning, she decided it was the morning for me to be a guest. It was very early (and you know how difficult mornings can be for us POTSies) and when we arrived at the studio, Clarice needed to talk with the person doing the technical stuff behind the scenes (the sound engineer?… can you tell I’m a newbie?) and we had zero time to prep. We sat down, got our headphones on, angled the mics, and the intro music was playing. I had no idea what was going to happen next but thanks to Clarice’s wonderful hosting abilities, I felt comfortable instantly. I could tell when she was looking for a response without there being an awkward pause. I still haven’t had a chance to go back and listen to the entire podcast but I do know there are some audio issues on my end (at least in the beginning. I didn’t realize that you had to be like an inch or two from it for it to pick up what I was saying. Oops!). And if you’re looking for a really great life coach (and an overall wonderful human being) you can find her website here: http://www.empoweringwomen.coach/about Just tell her Mia sent you 😊
