Core Body Braid
Another update with a super fun product I finally got to get my hands on - The Core Body Braid! So excited! I’ve wanted the Body Braid since I found out about it a few years ago.
EDIT Updated 4/19/2022
Blair has made some amazing improvements to the Body Braid! I haven’t tried out the new one yet, but when I do, I’ll update asap!
What does it do?
Supports your joints as gently or as firmly as you like.
This is all easily adjusted with the velcro straps.
With extension straps added (purchased separately) - you can wear this thing all day! Walking around, working out, etc. All. The. Things! It can be worn under or over your clothes.
It also helps with proprioception (being aware of where your body is in relation to other things - it has definitely helped me with bumping into a few less things!) because it’s hugging your body - forcing you to be aware of your movements.
Without extension straps: Keeps your shoulders in their proper position, supports your back, and keeps your legs in a comfortable position too. Overall, It makes sure you have the correct posture while you’re seated.
When you’re not using the extension straps, the Core Braid is is great for while you’re working at a desk, studying in a chair, or scrolling through Facebook.
Why Should I Get One?
If you have Ehler’s Danlos Syndrome, hypermobility, or chronic joint pain
I bet you’ve looked for braces to support multiple joints at once, I have yet to find another that does this many all at once.
It’s seriously like a hug on your body. I can’t tell you enough how much I love this braid! As soon as I tried it on I thought to myself “where has this been all my life?!?”
Fully adjustable
If you need more support (during a pain flare or if you just want it to feel snug) or want a looser fit (better for wearing for longer throughout the day or to focus just on being more aware of your movements) - It can do it all!
Satisfaction Guarantee
Body Braid has a 90 day return policy. This means you have time to try it out in its different configurations and fall in love with it like I did.
They want to make sure you love your Body Braid - This is their return policy:
Your satisfaction is guaranteed - or get your money refunded. Body Braid merchandise may be returned or exchanged within 90 days after receiving the package.
How difficult is it to put on?
Core Braid WITHOUT Extensions
Not gonna lie, the first time it looked difficult. But it was so easy just by following the simple instructions. It basically goes on like a jacket and then wraps around your knees. Super duper simple. Yes there are more things you can adjust - The first time, it took me about 5 minutes to get everything exactly how I wanted it (making sure the velcro was adjusted to give the firm hold I like). Now, when I put it on, i just have to slip it on and make a quick 5 second adjustment for getting it exactly how I want it to feel.
My mom came to visit and was sitting comfortably in it within 2 minutes. She even adjusted it so it sat differently on her back than I had it set for me (she’s a bit taller than me).
Core Braid WITH Extensions
It took me about 6 minutes to follow along with the video I posted from Blair at Body Braid (below) to attach the extension straps to each side. Follow along, pause the video as you do each step, and you’ll have it all set up in no time.
To put it on, the first few times it took me a good 5 minutes. After I practiced, it takes me about 30 seconds to be ready to walk out the door.
If you prefer to learn by watching someone else do it - Blair has thorough videos on how to adjust everything to get the support you’re looking for.
